Listen to me… it is essential that you have a handful of quick, simple, no-cook meal ideas that you can turn to when time is not on your side. And yes, you get bonus points if those recipes are also packed with protein and fiber (like this strawberry protein smoothie – hello, 21 grams of protein and 4 grams of fiber!).
This is a simple, no-cook, no-fuss breakfast idea that will help you stick to healthy eating habits, even on the busiest mornings! Because eating well should feel supportive, not stressful. Simple, delicious, and doable is my mantra when I’m in a hurry, and now it can be yours too!
Healthy Home Cook Pro-Tip: The secret to making a thick and creamy protein smoothie that tastes like a milkshake is frozen fruit. Many people use fresh fruit and ice, but this results in a final product that tastes watered down and uninspired. Trust me, I’ve tested this many times myself – and whether I am making my go-to green breakfast smoothie, my favorite chocolate protein shake, or a blueberry banana smoothie, I always use frozen fruit (and you should too!).
Gather These Ingredients:
Do not blink, because you only need 3 ingredients to make this delicious smoothie. But there are some important things to keep in mind.

- Unsweetened vanilla almond milk: Keeps the smoothie light while adding subtle sweetness. Feel free to use any milk you like, though. My kids love it when I make this with 2% milk because it’s even creamier. My husband prefers it with oat milk, so any milk works.
- Frozen strawberries: You know the routine. Frozen fruit makes the best protein shakes and smoothies. No question about it. Simple facts.
- Vanilla protein powder: Because whey protein is derived from dairy, I find it produces the smoothest, creamiest, most milkshake-like texture (I use this one!). If you can’t do dairy, this grass-fed protein made from beef isolate is also delicious. If you prefer plant-based, this is a great option.
Fun Ways to Mix It Up
The beauty of simple recipes like this is their flexibility. Here are a few delicious ways to mix it up:
- Strawberry banana: Add ½ a frozen banana for extra creaminess and natural sweetness. Frozen bananas make everything better!
- Berry blend: Swap half of the strawberries for frozen blueberries or raspberries. A frozen berry mix is also a delicious option.
- Creamy vanilla: Add Greek yogurt for a thicker, more dessert-like texture and an extra boost of protein.
- Rolled Oats: Sprinkle in 1/4 cup of rolled oats for pre-workout fuel.
- Greens: Toss in a small handful of baby spinach. It will change the color slightly, but you won’t taste it.
- Nutty butter: Add a tablespoon of almond butter or peanut butter for a boost of healthy fats and staying power.

Instructions

Notes
- Adjust the sweetness to taste: Depending on your protein powder, you may want to add a drizzle of honey or maple syrup.
- Blend until fully smooth: Let the blender run for an extra 10–15 seconds to fully break down the protein powder.
