Something magical happens when we accept our bodies (and ourselves) exactly as they are.
The struggle automatically dissolves.
When there is no arguing and no resistance, space opens up.
Space to see.
Space to hear.
Space to understand.
When we are not caught up in a relentless commitment to resist what we don’t like about our bodies, we suddenly we begin to really see what it is our bodies truly need and/or want from us.
So why is that so many women believe that if they accept their bodies exactly as they are (especially when they don’t look as we wish) they will stop caring, trying, growing, or worse *gasp*, never reach their health or weight loss goals.
Acceptance simply means this:
Allowing what is to be, simply because it already is.
It’s a decision to cease war against reality.
Quitting means this:
To give up or resign.
One has nothing to do with the other.
You can accept your body, exactly as it is, even if it’s not how you wish it were and still continue to take care of it. Still continue to work towards your goals and try to change it.
You don’t have to judge and resist your body as a prerequisite for change.
As a matter of fact, I have found this to be just the opposite.
