I’m pretty sure I’ve told you guys this before but I’ll tell you again anyway.
My hubby and I met when we were both waiting tables at a Mexican restaurant (we just had our 10-year anniversary last month) so for us, Cinco De Mayo is treated like a holiday.
I love planning a menu. This year it will be fish tacos, pico de gallo, and some guacamole along side one of these Skinny Jalapeño Grapefruit Margaritas.
Traditionally speaking, margaritas can pack a ton of sugar and empty calories but substituting pre-made, margarita mixes with some fresh juice and no added extra sugar makes this drink a much better option than the original.
Plus, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but limes are crazy expensive right now, so this is a great way to have a margarita without breaking the bank on fresh limes.
I will warn you, it’s pretty spicy! So if you prefer a milder margarita, just use one slice of jalapeño or skip it altogether.
Happy Cinco De Mayo!

Skinny Jalapeño Grapefruit Margarita
Yield: Serves 1
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 0 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1-2 slices jalapeno pepper
- 1 oz. fresh squeezed lime juice
- 2 oz. fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
- 2 oz. silver tequila
- 1 + ½ oz. club soda (I used grapefruit flavored club soda)
Optional: Kosher salt and lime to make a salted rim on your glass
Directions:
Place sliced jalapeno into your mixer cup and use a muddler to smash it up. If you don’t have a muddler just use the back of a wooden spoon.
Add lime juice, grapefruit juice, tequila and a couple of ice cubes to the cup. Pop on the lid and shake it all up.
Pour into a 12-ounce glass and top with club soda. Add as much ice as you like (I like a lot!). Enjoy!

I never tried margarita before. This one looks great! Gotta try it soon! Love the video, love the way you look! Bright colors look great on you!
Thanks! The margarita is a good one… enjoy it!
TOO cute in the out-take! I love grapefruit so I’m looking forward to making this tonight. My only suggestion would be to pour it through a strainer so the seeds and mushy bits of jalapeno don’t end up in my drinking glass, but that’s because I’m wimpy and the jalapeno burns my lips when it touches them. Salud!
Agreed! I like big spicy pieces of jalapeño (b/c I’m crazy like that) but would definitely strain if thats not your thing. Enjoy!
ur hilarious! i CANNOT wait to try this one! ♥
Can’t wait to hear what you think!
Love, love, LOVE this recipe! I always order these when I’m out to dinner. It’s so nice to have a healthier option! Thank you!
Hi Dani! I’m an american currently studying in Denmark, and I made these for my host family. We absolutely LOVED them! I love that they are not too sweet, and the jalapeño gives such an amazing flavor. And paired with the fish tacos? AH-mazing. Thanks for all your incredible recipes 🙂 Ever since I found your channel on Vessel, I think I’ve binge watched all your videos in less than a week!
