You guys never fail to surprise me when it comes to which ingredients and recipes get you excited. There was a lot of feedback and chit chat around the Okra 101 Video last week, so I’m excited to share this simple recipe for making okra fries.
If you are new to okra, this recipe is the PERFECT place to start. There’s no cutting or slicing into the okra, so the ‘slime’ factor that so many people freak out about is a non-factor. And the end result is a crispy, crunchy, flavorful plate of okra that taste like the veggie version of a french fry (yum!).
They are truly addictive straight out of the oven so prepare yourself to be delighted.

I just made this for lunch, and it was absolutely DELISH! I added a bit of cumin powder, too.
Thank you as always for the awesome videos!

Not a big okra fan, but it sounds interesting and I want to try it. But I absolutely DO NOT like curry. Can you suggest a substitute? Nutmeg?
Dani says
I don’t think nutmeg would work so well but I bet cumin would be perfect!!

Hi, I was just wondering, can use frozen okra for this recipe?
Dani says
NO… frozen okra holds too much water and it will end up steaming instead of roasting.
Alice says
How do you store them if you have extras?
Irene says
Never tried okra before. When given okra by local CSA farm I was looking for a recipe. This was looking easy. And it was DELICIOUS. Thank you!

I’m a little confused by the directions, the blog says it is quick and easy with no cutting or slicing, and yet the ingredient list calls for trimmed okra. How should it be trimmed? Looking forward to trying this!
Dani says
You only need to trim the okra if the stem look dried up or is too long. Often times this is not the case and there is no trimming needed. Hope that helps!
