Video: Baked Sweet Potato Fries

UPDATE: This is not a new recipe but I wanted to share a video demonstrating the technique! Still one of my go-to-faves whenever I’m in the mood for fries!

I think I’ve mentioned it before but that won’t stop me from saying it again, “I love fries”. Love em’!
What’s not to love? Seriously, you tell me because I can’t think of one thing.
I also love sweet potatoes (what can I say, I just love food)… so needless to say, these fries really do it for me; they’re the best of both worlds.
Dark Chocolate Covered Pomegranate Drops

My apologies for being so MIA the last couple of weeks. We have been shooting lots of videos for the New Year and I was preparing the family to head back East for the next few weeks. That paired with x-mas cards and holiday shopping and you’ve got a girl that’s been fairly ‘offline’…
Warm Lentil Salad Speckled W/ Kale and Pomegranate Seeds

I believe that everything in life happens for a reason.
I have been wanting to share this Warm Lentil Salad with you guys for years (no exaggeration). It’s a recipe that I learned when I attended The New School of Cooking over 5 years ago it’s been one of my ‘no-fail-go-to-salads’ ever since.
But for whatever reason, it just never made it to the blog, and now I know why…
Persimmons Pomegranate Salad with Butter Lettuce and Arugula

As much as I love the East coast and my Jersey roots there are a few things in California that I would find very, very, very hard to leave behind… the weather (obviously!), the year-round outdoor activities (especially the hiking!), and of course the Farmers markets (aka the availability of amazing, seasonal, top-notch ingredients).
But since having Katie and Jachs, I have found it much harder to peruse the farmers markets like I once did. Rather, I often find myself b-lining it straight to my favorite vendors and buying the same old produce week after week… until now… because I finally decided to join a local CSA (and I am absolutely giddy about it!).
Clean Eating Individual Apple Crisps

Fall is in the air and what better way to welcome this cool, brisk, colorful season than with a sweet, warm, ooey, gooey, apple crisp?!
But as we all know, too much of a good thing is simply too much, so I thought I would encourage the practice of moderation by making this crisp into individual sized portions. This way I could enjoy a little seasonal, sweet treat without over indulging (which I have been known to do when presented with warm fruit desserts!).
KidBite: Whole Grain Elbows With Lentils

It’s been a while since I’ve shared a KidBite.
It’s not because my kids don’t eat, rather that I’m not a very good multi-tasker and trying to figure out how to balance two children with everything I would like to be doing in my life without falling into the abyss of complete exhaustion is something I’m still working on.
Everyday I promise myself that I’m gonna share all of the great recipes, tips, ideas, etc. that I have about living a Clean & Delish life (family style) here on the blog, but after the mini’s are in bed and my day of ‘doing’ is over, I just can’t seem to resist the desire to allow my brain to melt into a puddle of ‘being’.
But with that being said, I just couldn’t wait to share this recipe with you guys…
Raw Kale and Walnut Pesto

Putting a simple spin on classic pesto is an easy way to give your pesto a seasonal feel. By subbing kale in for traditionally used basil, you end up with earthier, heartier flavors that we tend to lean towards as the cooler weather rolls in.
This my friends, is what I like to call, “Power Food Pesto”!
Kitchen Basics: Home-Made Veggie Stock

If you’ve never attempted to make your own veggie broth I hope to use this as an opportunity to convince you to give it a try.
Once you make (and taste) your own stock, you will wonder how you could have ever settled for it’s store bought counter part. Especially once you see how it EASY it is!
Now don’t get me wrong…
Raw Summer Squash Salad w/ Feta and Tomatoes

The best thing about working with fresh, seasonal produce is that you always know whatever ingredients you have on hand are going to taste great together! It’s simply the way Mother Nature intended it and it’s an easy way to learn how to pair foods together.
My favorite way of remembering this is…
Patty Pan Squash Kissed W/ Garlic and Dill

If there is one promise I can give you in the kitchen it’s this; If you work with fresh, seasonal, local ingredients it takes very little effort to create extremely flavorful food. So if time is an issue for you, this may be a road to travel more often.
Take these cute little Patty Pans for instance…
